Lego X DoP

How might we construct a functional correctional facility using the innocent, interlocking visual language of LEGO bricks to satirize the systemic nature of the prison-industrial complex?

The Process

The Mess: The project started as a satirical Toy Story jail. I then pivoted to a completely serious prison concept with no toys involved at all.

The "What If": I introduced a small amount of LEGO into the serious environment just to test the visual contrast.

The Takeover: LEGO completely consumed the design. The friction of building a dark and serious facility entirely out of cheerful plastic bricks became the final concept.

Final Set

The sheer bloated scale directly mirrors the sprawling nature of the prison-industrial complex. The uniform textures and repeating guard towers create a sense of mechanical repetition.
